As the season delay continues due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Drake Troutman made his iRacing debut on Tuesday night at The (virtual) Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) for the 13th annual Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Fling presented by VLR. With the 180-car field being split into three separate groups for two rounds of preliminary action, Troutman fell short of transfer spot into one of the two preliminary features with a 10th-place finish in his heat race. Needing a third place finish or better in his B-Main to make the A-Main, Drake was a scratch from the 12-lap consolation event.
For the second round of the Spring Fling on Wednesday afternoon, Drake was forced to visit the hot-pit late in his 8-lap heat that dropped him back to a 10th-place finish. Starting his B-Main in seventh for another shot at the final preliminary feature, Troutman came three spots short of a transfer position with a seventh place finish.
On Saturday night Troutman was one of 53 cars on hand at the (virtual) Volusia (FL) Speedway Park to kick off the ML Performance Crown Jewel Series. Earning the 10th-starting position for the 50-lap feature via preliminary events, Drake dropped four spots to place 14th.
