Drake Troutman piloted his Smith Transport No. 7 RFI Resources/ MB Customs/ LaSalle’s Racing Engine Modified to the feature win on Saturday night at Hagerstown Speedway.
The victory was his fifth overall of the 2021 season.
“Friday night wasn’t a bad night, but it was definitely a challenging night for our team. We learned a lot that we can use to improve our performance when we head back to Hilltop this weekend,” Troutman said. “On Saturday night at Hagerstown both of our cars were on point, and I came away with the Modified win and a solid Top-5 finish in the Late Model. We’ve got a really big weekend in front of us, and we are heading into it with guns blazing for sure.”
Preparing for the upcoming King of the Hill 50, Drake Troutman invaded Hilltop Speedway (Millersburg, Ohio) on Friday afternoon to compete in both the Late Model and Modified ranks. After sitting out a lengthy rain delay, Drake followed up the third-fastest time in Late Model qualifying with a fourth-place finish in the Dash. Starting the feature in fourth, Troutman was unfortunately involved in a pair of tangles that sidelined him for the remainder of the evening.
In his Modified, Troutman laid down the second-fastest lap overall in time trials before picking up a heat race win. Finishing second in the feature, Drake trailed only Jesse Wisecarver to the checkers with Robin Duston, Troy Johnson, and Tony Anderson rounding out the Top-5.
The following night at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.), Drake advanced one spot in his Modified heat to place second behind Steve Axtell Jr. Starting the Mid-Atlantic Modified Series-sanctioned feature in ninth, Troutman stormed to his fifth win of the season over Brad Kling, Axtell Jr., Justin Cullum, and Dave Definbaugh.
In his Late Model, Troutman posted a fourth-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 10th on the starting grid for the feature. Breaking into the Top-5, Drake passed five cars to place fifth, trailing Gary Stuhler, Matt Cosner, Tyler Bare, and Justin Weaver across the line.
