Troutman debuts with DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Lincoln
After a pair of Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour events were rained out on Thursday and Friday, Drake Troutman called an audible and headed to Dog Hollow Speedway (Strongstown, Pa.) on Friday to enter his RFI Resources No. & Late Model into action. Following a third-place finish in his heat, Drake improved four spots in the feature to register a fifth-place finish. He trailed Max Blair, Alex Ferree, Jon Lee, and John Wayne Weaver to the checkers.
The following night at Hummingbird Speedway (Reynoldsville, Pa.) for the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour event, Troutman topped the speed charts in time trials before placing second in the Dash. After jumping out to an early lead in the feature, Drake suffered a broken driveshaft that brought an immediate end to his night.
On Sunday, Drake trekked to Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.) to make his debut with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals. In a stout field of 35 Late Models, Troutman was challenging for third in his heat race when overheating issues forced him to pull off. He sidelined his Late Model for the remainder of the evening.
After coming in second fastest in Modified time trials, Troutman scored a second-place finish in his heat behind Modified standout Mike Harrison. Earning the eighth-starting position for the feature, Drake faded outside the top-10 early but rebounded to finish ninth.
