Drake Troutman competes in AMS and DIRTcar Summer Nationals

Calling an audible and remaining in his area, Drake Troutman returned with the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek on Tuesday afternoon at Path Valley Speedway (Spring Run, Pa.) for the fourth round of the tour.

With preliminary events lining him on the on the seventh row for the feature, a steady rain shower rolled into the area and washed out the 35-lapper.

For the fifth round on Thursday at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.), Troutman timed in second-fastest in his time trial group before placing second in his dash. Chasing a $4,000 payday in the feature, Drake suffered a flat right-rear tire while challenging for the podium that sidelined him on lap 33.

Trekking overnight, Drake entered his Wheeler Fleet Solutions No. 7 Late Model into battle at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) on Friday afternoon for the DIRTcar Summer Nationals event. After recording a solid qualifying effort, Troutman pulled off early in his heat and scratched from his B-Main.

For another $10,000-to-win Hell Tour event on Saturday at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Troutman snuck into the feature with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Starting in 22nd, Drake was an early retiree on lap 14.

The action-packed week concluded for Troutman on Sunday at Sycamore Speedway (Maple Park, Ill.) where Drake topped his 16-car group in time trials before placing second in his heat. Battling more bad luck in the feature, Troutman slipped over the cushion on lap 25 and tagged the wall while running fifth that brought a disappointing end to his weekend.
